1906 - 1937 (J. Tostrup - Haakon VII, 18K gold with standing lion on top of the crown)

1906: The Collar was introduced as a separate class. The name of the Order changed to "Den norske St. Olavs Orden" - The Norwegian Order of St. Olav.

1928: Foreigners awarded Commander Class 1 receives only the Star and not the cross (badge).

1935: The name of the Commander Class 1 formally changed to "Commander with Star"

1906 Grand Cross set

This Grand Cross set comes from the Royal vaults in Iran. The Royal treasures have disappeared over time. Among others the Collar worn by the Shah on the above photo is reported to have been melted down for the gold value. Where-abouts on the Shah's Grand Cross is unknown. Several St Olav Orders have been issued to people of Iran. The one shown here is believed to have belonged to one of the Ministers or the Ambassador to Iran in Norway.It is not the same as seen on the photo of the Shah.

The Knight 2 version in silver is quite difficult to get hold of. Not so many were awarded. This prime example was purchased in 2002. Vertical high ring on back of top Lion.

1906 Knight 2 Military with swords

The Knight 2 military version in silver with swords is very difficult to get hold of. Just a few were awarded. This example was purchased in 2003.

1906 Miniature Military

This 1906 Military Miniature was purchased in the 1970's. During my days at the University I carried this around my neck. Little did I know that this one day would be a part of my St Olav's order collection.
